Casey Wilson’s 10 favorite travel essentials you need for your next trip

Posted on May 15, 2022 by malek00

If you mix sunshine and zest for life, throw in a dash of sarcasm and stuff it into human form, you’d end up with Casey Wilson. The actor, writer and ‘real housewives’ The anthropologist delivered in May 2021 with her collection of essays, The Wreckage of My Presence.” Her secret ingredient is her innate ability to laugh at herself without being valuable.

“I love people. I want to be out with people morning, noon and night,” says Wilson.

It might sound cheesy. But it doesn’t when Wilson says it does. And somehow Wilson, who is currently promoting her partnership with Hellman’s new spicy mayonnaise dressing, manages to make even this downright odd campaign not only tasty but downright amusing.

“I was given a title that is the Spicy Ambassador,” she says. “Did you ever think that I would have an ambassadorship? Nobody did. But when you hear it, it’s right. You know it’s right I’m just an ambassador helping people spice up their lives and live their lives.”

In order to connect with people, Wilson travels – a lot. Both at work and when she’s on the road with her co-creator, Danielle Schneider, on her podcast, Bitch Sesh: A Real Housewives Breakdown. So she gave us a rundown of all the gear she’s bought — from her go-to eye mask to her favorite carry-on — to make traveling not just bearable, but enjoyable.

Her travel mantra: “I try to make it seem like I’ve done something,” she says. “Everything about me is trying to do something that looks like a thing but is really lazy.” That’s what we’re here for. Wilson never leaves home on her travels without the following.

$48 at Lunaya

Wilson wants to unwind — and switch off — when she’s in the air. For her, that means getting this shockingly affordable yet delightfully luxurious silk eye mask. “A face mask is my number one choice,” she says. “And it’s Lunya’s – it’s an obsession. When I don’t have it things get very weird.” It has a 100% silk exterior so it’s incredibly soft and doubles as a headband for your nightly beauty routine without creasing your hair.

Beats Studio3 wireless noise canceling over-ear headphones

Wilson doesn’t go anywhere without these headphones, which boast up to 22 hours of battery life and pure adaptive noise cancellation that actively blocks outside noise while still delivering premium sound. “I have a whole contraption where I have my Beats noise-cancelling headphones. I have my lunya. Of course I have my gossip magazines, so sometimes I put the mask on, read them, only to pass out with the magazines spread all over me,” she says. A good pair of noise-cancelling headphones is an essential part of any traveler’s wardrobe to block out the sounds of your snoring neighbor, a nearby crying baby, or the loud hum of an airplane engine.

$199.99 at B&H

Mobile office bag from Samsonite

Some people opt for trendy carry-on bags with all the gadgets. Not Wilson, who instead opts for this spacious yet stylish and durable bag from a well-known travel brand. “I got this suitcase – it’s from Samsonite, but it’s not like a giant or a carry-on. It almost looks like a big old school briefcase. I can’t describe it, but it’s indestructible, but not gigantic, so I’m obsessed with it,” she says.

$84 at Vuori

Wide-leg flared halo trousers

When traveling, Wilson wants to look smart without sacrificing comfort. So she’s addicted to those pants that don’t really feel like pants. “I wear them every second – they’re called Vuori,” she says. They are not classic jogging pants. Instead, they’re made from a soft fabric that has a wide leg and is fitted at the waist and hips for a slightly elevated look.

$65 at Sephora

Wilson goes nowhere without a product loved by both celebrities and their makeup artists for its flawless finish. “I’m very attached to my Armani Luminous Foundation,” says Wilson. The foundation comes in 40 shades in a 1 ounce container, making it the perfect size to slip into your favorite travel makeup bag and get through airport security.

$15 at Sephora

As a working mom, Wilson doesn’t have the time or patience to carefully apply eye makeup or create an intricate smoky eye — especially when traveling. “[Kosas] has this product called the 10 second eyeshadow where you just dab and smudge it onto your lids. Done. That was a real turning point for me,” she says. Available in six neutral shades, it’s perfect for adding a touch of sparkle to any look.

$34 at Sephora

Wilson is all about products that are two in one – even when it comes to makeup. “I love the Ilia Multi-Stick,” she says. “He’s blush and lipstick. Anything that can get me going in multiple areas, I love it.” The Ilia Multi-Stick can be applied to the cheeks and lips to give your skin a radiant finish and brighten your skin.

EltaMD UV Restore SPF 40 anti-aging facial moisturizer

Like most adults, Wilson is a fan of sunscreen wherever she is. In particular, she’s into EltaMD SPF, a mineral-based, non-greasy, and ultra-light sunscreen option for everyday use. “I’m very obsessed with the Elta sunscreen with the moisturizer in it — it’s not chalky,” she says. It is a tinted facial sunscreen that is fragrance free and 100% mineral based.

$195 at Staud

Staud Dana dress

You want to look neat at your destination, but you don’t want a suitcase full of rumpled ensembles. Wilson is a fan of the Staud color block dresses because they are cute and the perfect travel companion to wear to your destination. “I really like Staud’s dresses because they fit in the bag when crumpled, but then they look very cute,” says Wilson. Staud’s midi dress comes in five different color combinations, so you can choose an option that suits you – and your travel destination.

Starting at $34 at Amazon

When she flies, Wilson says, she typically wears these Birkenstock EVA sandals as her preferred travel shoe. They are waterproof, washable, lightweight and available in 35 different colors and prints. They’re also insanely comfortable and easy to slip on and off. “I’ve got these new Birkenstocks that are kind of rubbery and lavender in color, but they’re so comfortable,” she says.
