Tahj Hutchinson has been charged with first degree manslaughter and is currently on a $ 1 million bond, said Sgt. Mark Cleverdon, the South Windsor Police Department information officer.
Jessica Edwards, 30, was reported missing by her mother and sister on May 10, Cleverdon said. Hutchinson also filed a missing person report for his wife that day.
Her body was found Friday morning in a densely populated wooded area in East Hartford’s Hockanum River Linear Park, Cleverdon said. The body had significant decomposition, police said.
Hutchinson was arrested after police issued search warrants on the couple’s home and vehicles, Cleverdon said, adding that cellular data of Hutchinson’s whereabouts on the day of the murder led to his arrest.
CNN couldn’t find a lawyer for Hutchinson Friday night, and Cleverdon didn’t know if Hutchinson had a lawyer at the time.
The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy will be done Saturday, Cleverdon said.
Hutchinson will have a trial on Monday, Cleverdon said.
