Mass shooting at Buffalo supermarket

New York governor Kathy Hochul tweeted said she was “closely watching” the shooting at the Tops grocery store in Buffalo.

“I am closely following the shooting at a Buffalo grocery store. We have offered assistance to local officials. If you are in Buffalo, please avoid the area and follow the advice of law enforcement and local officials,” she said.

The Senate Majority Leader is “actively monitoring” the situation: Senator Chuck Schumer said he is “actively monitoring the situation with the Buffalo grocery store shooting.” We stand by the people of Buffalo. If you are in Buffalo, please follow directions from local law enforcement.”

The local congressman responds: Rep. Brian Higgins, a Democrat representing portions of Erie and Niagara counties in New York’s 26th district, said he was “appalled” by the shooting and that his office is in touch with authorities to offer “any necessary federal assistance.”

New York Attorney General calls shooting ‘tragic’: New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a tweet that “all of New York is with Buffalo after this tragic mass shooting” and advised people to stay away from the area.

A member of the Niagara District Council says he is “appalled”: Niagara County Councilman David Rivera responded to Saturday’s mass shooting at a Buffalo convenience store by saying on Facebook, “I am absolutely appalled by the news of a mass shooting in Buffalo. My heart and condolences go out to the families of the victims.”

Stefanik “prays for the whole congregation”: New York Assemblyman and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik tweeted that she was “very saddened to hear the tragic news from fellow New Yorkers in Buffalo. Our prayers are for the entire community and law enforcement at this time. 🙏”

Buffalo City Council member feels ‘sick’: Buffalo City Council member Joseph Golombek responded to the Tops supermarket attack on Facebook: “Words cannot express the sickness I feel at this senseless act of violence and loss of life in our city. My condolences to the families.”
