The first Native American woman in space goes on a spacewalk

The first Native American woman in space ventured on a spacewalk on Friday to prepare the International Space Station for more solar panels. NASA astronaut Nicole Mann surfaced alongside Japan’s Koichi Wakata, toting an equipment bag. Their job was to install support struts and mounts for new solar panels coming to market this summer, part of NASA’s ongoing effort to expand the space station’s power grid.
