“Time was up”: Insights from PMO staff testimonies on Trudeau’s decision to invoke the Emergency Act

On Thursday, a trio of senior officials from the prime minister’s office testified before the Emergency Public Order Commission, which is investigating the federal government’s use of the emergency law. Chief of Staff Katie Telford, Deputy Chief of Staff Brian Clow and Political Director John Brodhead commented as a panel discussion, testifying about their roles during the “Freedom Convoy” protests and as senior officials considering their options in the occupation of Ottawa and the address border blockages.
